So last Saturday June 30th, 2018 we had another special workshop at Interact which was all about making and using natural pigments in your art. We did some painting using these pigments from such things as beets, flowers, and turmeric just to name a few. The processes involved in making these were long and involved so will probably will not be something I will choose to do on my own but I was happy to try it with our trusty instructors doing the heavy lifting! Here are a few photos of what I painted:
Our instructors also taught us how to make tempura paint using egg yolks which was pretty cool. I can not even imagine how long it took artists back in the day to paint when they had to make their own pigments for painting and am so grateful that I do not have to go through this process myself on any sort of regular basis as I would spend most of my time doing that, not actually making art.
